Get 2 know was the title of my magazine. It was produced similar to the everyday UK music magazines that we see and read daily. It relates to underground music including RNB, hip hop and funky house, it does this because it’s a common phrase used by most young youth. It was also created as it was good pun and it is short, likeable and would grab a lot of young people’s attention. The target audience was decided with the questionnaires that we created. The questionnaire revealed that I should make a magazine that is for both males and female youths and with the questionnaire I also came up with most of the ideas that should be included in the magazine as the magazine would most likely to be read by the certain people I gave the questionnaire to.
The colour scheme (light blue/dark blue/white) was continues as I used it all through my magazine as it conveyed my knowledge of cohesive house style. As my magazine was mainly created for teenagers that enjoy socialising and keeping up with the local gossip, I made sure to feature pictures that would grab their attention (the three girls) on the front cover as the front page tends to sum up what is included in the magazine and what the magazine is all about in a complete summary. The image also helps the reader relate to the image and be more interested to read it. I tried not to be to specific with the attitude that I should convey as most underground and hip hop magazines tend to have an aggressive nature to them but to avoid that as my magazine also is created for personals that are interested in RNB music I gave the impression of a cool calm urban feeling that most of the targets audience would relate to.
The magazine that I created would mainly be distributed by National music Director Company, hip hop and several other underground groups. These groups’ usual sale magazines like these as they tend to target the same group I was targeting. This group tends to be young hip hop and RNB fans.
The main technique that I used to attract my targeted audience was to make the magazine have features in comparison to the reader. This is mainly illustrated by the colour, heading and structure of my magazine front cover and the included pages. The front cover with the heading “Get 2 Know” that tends to be a colloquial term that is used by modern day young people and adult s that have an understanding with the modern basic terminology. Whereas a full grown adult might struggle to understand the meaning that I was trying to portray. In addition the colour scheme being bright and not dull would be the colours that would mostly attract my targeted audience. Significantly the linguistic devises in the interview reflect several words and phrases that the targeted audience that I’m targeting for would use. Such words like “he lets us do basically are thing” show how if you wasn’t of a certain knowledge you will not be able to understand at all what they are trying to say.
This project has taught me a lot apart from how to construct a magazine because everyone has an idea of how it is done but with the cohesive house style and media conventions that I didn’t really know or understand i eventualy understood how to put a magazine together with the use of photoshop and indi desighns and on top of that i learnt what it takes to conjure up the idea of a successful magazine.
